Bit Form – Address Field

The Address field in Bit Form lets you collect a complete address using one grouped field. Instead of adding separate fields for street address, city, state, ZIP/postal code, and country, you can add the Address field and manage all address-related inputs from one place.

⚙ Basic Settings​

1. Field Key

Each Address field has a unique Field Key. This key helps identify the field inside Bit Form and can be useful when working with entries, integrations, workflows, emails, PDFs, and other form-related actions.

You can copy the Field Key from the top of the field settings panel.

2. Label

The Label option lets you set the main title of the Address field. This label appears above the full address group on the form. You can also enable or disable the label using the toggle beside the Label option.

Prefix and Suffix Icon: You can add an icon before or after the label using the Prefix Icon and Suffix Icon options. This is helpful when you want to make the field label more visual or easier to recognize.

3. Subtitle

The Subtitle option lets you add short helper text below the main Address label. It is useful when you want to explain what type of address the user should provide. You can enable or disable the subtitle using the toggle beside the Subtitle option.

Prefix and Suffix Icon: Like the label, the subtitle also supports Prefix Icon and Suffix Icon options. You can use these icons to make the subtitle more noticeable or informative.

4. Address – Child Fields

The Address field comes with multiple child fields. These child fields are used to collect different parts of an address.

The available child fields are:

1. Street address
2. Address line 2
3. City
4. State / Province / Region
5. Zip / Postal code
6. Country

Each child field has its own settings. You can enable or disable any child field based on your form requirement. You can also open each child field to customize its settings, such as label, placeholder, helper text, required status, and column width.

5. Address Scheme

The Address Scheme option lets you choose a ready-made address format based on a region. When you select a scheme, Bit Form automatically adjusts the active child fields and labels.

Available schemes include:

Scheme	What it does
International	Uses a general address format suitable for most countries
United States	Uses labels like State and ZIP Code
Canada	Uses labels like Province and Postal Code
United Kingdom	Uses Postcode and removes the state field
Australia	Uses labels like State / Territory and Postcode
Custom	Keeps your current setup so you can manage fields manually

This option is useful when your form is mainly created for users from a specific country or region.

Note: Changing the Address Scheme may update the active fields and labels. If you want full manual control, select Custom.

6. ZIP / Postal Validation

The ZIP / Postal Validation option controls how the ZIP or postal code is checked when a user submits the form.

There are three options:

Auto (country-driven)

This is the default option. Bit Form validates the ZIP or postal code based on the selected country when a supported country pattern is available. This is useful for international forms because users from different countries may enter different postal code formats.

Off

Select Off if you do not want Bit Form to check the ZIP or postal code format. This can be useful when you want to accept any value without validation.

Custom regex

Select Custom regex if you want to use your own validation pattern for the ZIP or postal code field. For example, you can use a custom pattern when your business only accepts a specific postal code format.

7. Address Autocomplete

The Address Autocomplete option helps users fill in their address faster by showing address suggestions while they type.

Available options include:

Option	Description
None	Disables address autocomplete
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim)	Provides free address suggestions without an API key
Google Places	Uses Google Places for address suggestions and requires a Google Maps API key
Mapbox	Uses Mapbox for address suggestions and requires a Mapbox access token

When a user selects an address suggestion, Bit Form can automatically fill related address fields such as street address, city, state, ZIP/postal code, and country.

Show Map (Pro – Google only)

The Show Map option allows you to display a map below the Address field. This option is available when the Address Autocomplete provider is set to Google Places.

Available map options include:

Option	Description
None	Does not show a map
Preview	Shows a read-only map with the selected location
Interactive	Allows users to click the map or drag the pin to adjust the address

This is useful when you want users to confirm their exact address or location visually.

Note: Address Autocomplete is a Pro feature.

8. Auto Locate

The Auto Locate option allows Bit Form to detect the user’s current location and fill the address fields automatically.

Available options include:

Option	Description
Disabled	Turns off auto location detection
On Page Load	Asks for location permission when the form loads
On Button Click	Adds a location button beside the street field so the user can detect the address manually

This option is useful for delivery forms, service booking forms, location-based requests, and any form where users may want to fill in their address quickly.

Note: Auto Locate requires browser location permission and works only on HTTPS websites.

9. Save Coordinates

The Save Coordinates option lets Bit Form save the latitude and longitude of the selected address.

When this option is enabled, Bit Form stores the address coordinates along with the form submission. This can be useful for location-based services, delivery management, booking systems, and map-related workflows.

Note: Save Coordinates is a Pro feature.

⚙ Advanced Settings

The Advanced tab gives you more control over how the Address field appears, how it is identified inside the admin area, and how you can target it with custom CSS.

1. Helper Text

The Helper Text option lets you add extra guidance for users. This text appears with the Address field on the form and helps users understand what kind of address information they should enter. You can also enable or disable the helper text using the toggle beside the option.

Prefix and Suffix Icon: The Helper Text option also supports Prefix Icon and Suffix Icon. You can use these icons to make the helper text more noticeable or visually meaningful.

2. Admin Label

The Admin Label is used to identify the Address field inside the admin area. This label is not shown to users on the frontend form.

It is useful when you have multiple address fields in the same form. This makes it easier to recognize the correct field when viewing entries, setting up integrations, or managing form data.

3. Name Attribute

The Name Attribute is the field’s submission key. Bit Form uses this value to identify the Address field when the form is submitted.

By default, Bit Form creates a name attribute automatically. You can keep the default value or update it based on your needs.

Use a clear and unique name attribute if you plan to use this field in integrations, custom scripts, or advanced workflows.

Note: Avoid using the same name attribute for multiple fields in the same form.

4. Container Class

The Container Class option lets you add custom CSS classes to the Address field wrapper.

This is useful when you want to apply custom styling to the full Address field group. You can also add multiple classes by separating them with spaces.
